“I am happy with how things have been going in the past period and with the confidence that the club has expressed in me. I have always been quite good at football and I am developing well on the defensive side,” says 20-year-old Van Duijl on the club website.
Scoring against PSV
Van Duijl has played ten times in the main squad since coming to Alkmaar. He also played 47 games in the first division for Jong AZ. Last Thursday, Van Duijl had a starting place in the 3-0 defeat against Shaktar Donetsk in the Conference League.
Van Duijl mentions his opening goal against PSV last month as a highlight in the AZ shirt. “That was my first goal in professional football. I hit it well and didn’t think too much. I’m very happy with that.”
