After eleven years in the Ski World Cup, Marc Rochat is ending his career. Even during his career, he had his sights set on what would happen afterwards.
Ski racer Marc Rochat has announced the end of his career. “I close this chapter with great pride and deep serenity,” the slalom specialist was quoted as saying in a press release from Swiss-Ski, the umbrella organization for Swiss snow sports. His career has brought him “victories, defeats, tears and emotions that are hard to beat.” He would like to thank all of his supporters; sport will always be a part of him.
“After more than 15 years in top-class sport, I feel that my energy, my curiosity and my ambitions are taking me to a new playing field,” he explained his decision. During his career he completed a distance learning business course.
The 33-year-old slalom specialist was only able to score points once in the last World Cup season. In all other slalom races he was either eliminated or missed qualifying for the second run. He announced the end of his career after he missed defending his title in the slalom at the Swiss Championships.
He completed his first World Cup run on December 13, 2015. He has made a total of 105 appearances, 101 of which were in the slalom and four in the giant slalom. His two best results were two fourth places. In the 2023/24 season he had his strongest time with five top 10 results in the World Cup.
His career highlight was the bronze medal in the team combination at the World Ski Championships last year. “This medal justifies my decision to have chosen this life,” he explained.
