A year ago, French biathlete Lisa Siberchicot was in a deep hole. Twelve months later, things are noticeably improving again for the 23-year-old, even if she has not yet managed to return to the national squad. Next winter she wants to be among the world’s best again.

Last summer of training, Lisa Siberchicot listened to her inner voice and, after numerous low blows, focused on herself again.

“I am very grateful to my coach Cyril Quartelli, especially for giving me the freedom to do what I thought was right,” she said, looking back on the big turning point last year in an interview with “Nordic Magazine”.

This had an effect because: “I was (finally) happy again to be able to compete in biathlon.”

Although Siberchicot said she was “not sure physically and mentally” where she was after the disappointing 2024/2025 season, she is satisfied with her performances last winter. The Frenchwoman won at least three races (sprint in Bessans, short individual in Les Saisies and sprint in Peisey-Nancroix).

“I consider this season to be really good, even if I didn’t achieve my goal of taking part in the IBU Cup in November or improving over the course of the season,” Siberchicot summed up and added: “It’s a bit disappointing in that respect, but my goal was to enjoy the races before thinking about the result.”

Biathlon ace feels “capable of incredible things”

With good performances at the 2024 Junior World Championships in her home country, Siberchicot raised expectations that she initially did not live up to. But the ski hunter now sees herself on the right path.

“This season has given me back my motivation and my self-confidence. I am capable of incredible things. Last season was simply complicated and had a lot of ups and downs. That motivates me to go further and take part in the IBU Cup. I still have the ambition and passion to keep going,” she clarified.
