The facts took place on November 16, 2022 in a farm along the Sijslostraat in Waardamme (Oostkamp). Chris V. (47) killed his daughters, aged five and eight, by suffocation on Wednesday afternoon. The bodies of the victims were found in their father’s home around 8 p.m. V. was missing at the time, but was captured later that evening. The suspect crashed his car into a pole.
The victims’ father immediately made confessions. The divorce with the mother of his daughters is said to have been the basis of the facts. After the incident he called his ex-partner to say it was “too late”. In some letters he stated that he was acting out of revenge. V. apparently feared that he would not see the children enough.
Hitman
In the meantime, on February 26, 2024, the man in his forties was sentenced by the Bruges criminal court to a four-month suspended prison sentence for intimate partner violence. In a case of harassment, V. was given a suspended five-month prison sentence on October 28. From prison, the suspect continued to harass his ex-partner.
