“Still, it pays off for Undav because you can see that he has a lot of passion. At the moment he doesn’t think about the fact that he already has four yellow cards.”says Tobi. A player like Undav could be forgiven for this lapse.

Others scored the goals for VfB: Angelo Stiller, Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Bilal El Khannouss. Three of them, namely Stiller, Führich and Mittelstädt, have already worn the German national team jersey, but none of them were in Julian Nagelsmann’s original squad at the international break in March – in contrast to their teammates Alexander Nübel, Josha Vagnoman, Jamie Leweling and Deniz Undav.
Due to several cancellations due to injury, Führich and Stiller were nominated later. VfB could not only field an almost complete DFB team, but also present itself at Champions League level regardless of the pack formation.
