Four people were arrested during a police action on Taftstraat in Helmond on Sunday evening. When officers wanted to investigate in a parking lot, two suspects tried to flee in a car. However, he was crushed by an officer in an unmarked service car.
The German police were also involved in the action. A police spokesperson from the National Unit says that there was a suspicious situation in the parking lot of a Lidl store.
When officers wanted to approach the situation, one of the cars, containing two occupants, took off. They drove off the property and turned onto Taft Street.
Car rammed
The suspects did not get far. Close to the site, the car was rammed and crushed by an inconspicuous Dutch police car.
One of the occupants was slightly injured. That person was checked by ambulance personnel and was subsequently arrested. Both occupants of the fleeing Renault were taken to the station.
Car searched
The blue Audi that was left behind was also completely searched on the site. Police say cash and packages that appear to be drugs were found, although this is still under investigation.
Images show white packages lying on the hood of an unmarked German police car. The two people in the blue Audi have also been arrested.
