2001 Miss Finland by Heidi Willman the interview ended on an emotional note on Sunday Good morning Finland in the program.

At the beginning of the millennium, Willman was crowned Miss Finland, since then life has brought health challenges, among other things.

In 2016, Willman was diagnosed with breast cancer, which was operated on a month after the diagnosis. She has since had her breasts and ovaries removed.

The host of the program Teresa Meriläinen-Aho recounted Willman’s journey and asked what he thinks about this spectrum of life.

– When you list them one after the other, there has been quite a lot here that has fit into 25 years. Before that, the loss of my mother and the divorce came later, there’s a lot here. But still, I’m really grateful to life and health that I’m still here, Willman reflected.

Willman has accepted life’s changes with the most positive attitude possible.

– I have never wanted to be bitter. Those have been things that I have not been able to influence. Just had to take what comes. I always try to look for even a little positivity in all things, he says.

Willman says that with breast cancer, her femininity and experience of her own body took a real hit. He is often asked how he managed all this.

– I can’t really… I don’t really know. I had some intuition. After all, my hair had already started to get shorter before the illness. When the hair came off, I didn’t even cry. I didn’t even shed a tear at that moment. I looked at myself in the mirror to see that Jumankauta is bald by the way, Willman recalled.

Willman, who spoke openly about his health challenges in public, says that he receives numerous messages and wonderful words these days. For example, he tells about a woman who came to tell him how he gives energy and light to his life with his own being.

Willman says that various turmoils in life have guided him to accept himself as he is.

At the end of the interview, Willman was shown a video greeting from Paris by his friend, presenter Joanna Kuvaja, as a surprise. In his greeting, the photographer said that they have a long friendship behind them and have known each other for almost 20 years.

– What I’ve learned about you over the years and what I appreciate most about you as a person is your courage. How you dare to live this life, by truly being yourself. You don’t care what others think, and you certainly don’t let others’ opinions discourage you, Kuvaja said on the broadcast.

Willman burst into tears at his friend’s greetings.

– It’s insane skill and wealth these days. You are not only an incredibly wonderful role model for your own daughters, but for all of us women. Thank you Heidi, when you are, Kuvaja continued.

Willman wiped tears from his cheeks and collected himself after the greeting.

– What would you say to this now? It’s about time, he said.

Willman has recently also talked openly about his most recent doctor’s visit, which stopped him. He told Iltalehte that he suffered from severe stomach pains in February.

After the examinations, the doctor diagnosed Willman with diverticulitis, i.e. inflammation of the intestinal sac.

– Now I have to live with these pains and swelling for a few days. However, I have also experienced the more serious side of getting sick in my life, so fortunately everything is fine, and there was nothing really serious, Willman said at the time.

– I will continue to have regular blood tests and follow-ups. Cancer has left the feeling that even a stomach ache like that should immediately see a doctor, he continued.
