Froukje de Both does not know what is true about the rumors that Gordon and she are being kicked out of Radio 10’s morning rush hour. “I have no idea. I really don’t know,” said the presenter.
Patrick Kicken, the radio’s Tina Nijkamp, has been hinting for some time that Gordon and Froukje de Both will be removed from the morning of Radio 10 due to disappointing listening figures. There was gossip that Eddy Keur would take over, but according to Patrick, two new names are now circulating: Jan-Willem Roodbeen and Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte.
‘Don’t know’
What does Froukje think is true about these rumors? “I have no idea. I really don’t know,” she responds at the desk Show news. Oops, that doesn’t sound like she’s very sure of herself…
They don’t like those rumors. “Yes, but I try to focus on what I do have influence on, namely making a fun show, preparing the show and on my great team. On the fun we have in the morning. I have influence on that. On gossip and speculation and things like this, I have no influence on that, so: let it go!”
Different from TV
How is it possible, according to Froukje, that their listening figures are disappointing? “Yes, you know: radio is really very different from TV. I think a lot of people don’t know that. With TV, every time, every day you watch what the viewing figures are. Of course you know that you make commercial radio, but a radio program and especially a morning show really takes time.”
“People have to get used to it in the morning. Of course they know who Gordon and I are, but they have to get used to waking up with you every morning. That takes time.”
One more time
Why does it take so much time? Froukje: “They have to find you and then they have to get used to it and then they will listen again and again, so I hope we get the time.”
Doesn’t it make her negative? “No, not at all. Sometimes we are a bit tired at 5:30 in the morning. I find getting up early quite intense, yes. I get up at 4:00 every day.”
