Surprise drop before Coachella 2026: Nine Inch Nails & Boys Noize announce a joint record for April 17th.

Shortly before their appearance at the Coachella Festival 2026, Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize surprisingly announced a joint album. The project is called Nine Inch Noize and the record will be released on April 17, 2026.

The announcement was made on April 8 via both acts’ Instagram accounts. The album has the catalog number HALO 38 and is part of Nine Inch Nails’ numbered release chronology.

In addition, a billboard with the project name appeared on the access road to Indio, California – the venue for the Coachella Festival. Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize’s joint performance under the Nine Inch Noize banner is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th at the Sahara Stage.

A grown collaboration

The announcement of a joint venture between Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize has a history: in 2024, Boys Noize was commissioned to “deconstruct and reinterpret” the soundtrack to Luca Guadagnino’s feature film “Challengers” composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. This resulted in an independent reworking of the score. The two sides then worked together on the soundtrack for “TRON: Ares,” which was released in 2025.

And Boys Noize was also there on Nine Inch Nails’ “Peel It Back” tour last year: the German DJ and producer played remixes from a smaller second stage in the middle of the audience.

Reznor on the future of Nine Inch Nails

At the final concert of the “Peel It Back” tour, frontman Trent Reznor clarified previous statements about the band’s future that had previously caused speculation. He emphasized that the end of the tour does not mean the end of the group: Although no further concerts are currently planned, that does not rule out another tour.

Drummer change with the Foo Fighters

Aside from the new collaboration, there have also been recent personnel changes at Nine Inch Nails: drummer Ilan Rubin left the band in 2025 to join the Foo Fighters. In return, Josh Freese moved from the Foo Fighters to Nine Inch Nails. Rubin spoke positively about the swap, calling it “obviously a great coincidence.”
