Juju returns after seven years with “Crashout Freestyle” – with industry criticism, self-empowerment and the announcement of her new solo album.
Juju is back. Seven years after her last solo release, the Berlin rapper is back with new music, a clear attitude and an unmistakable portion of anger. The “Crashout Freestyle” acts like a liberation that combines personal experiences, industry criticism and self-identification. At the same time, Juju announces a new album for August 7th, 2026.
Between processing and accusation
Even in the first few lines it becomes clear that a lot has built up in recent years. “I was fooled and I was sold,” raps Juju – a direct, unvarnished reckoning with the structures in which she has operated for a long time. She repeatedly refers to a time when she was persuaded that she was the problem. Therapy, withdrawal and travel ultimately led to a different realization: it was not she, but her environment that had to change.
The artist had already hinted at this perspective in recent months – for example with statements about a “gag contract” from which she has now released herself. The “Crashout Freestyle” now provides the soundtrack to this phase of self-empowerment.
Pioneering work and lack of recognition
A central point of the track is Juju’s view of her own role in German rap. As part of SXTN, she made a significant contribution to establishing a new, explicit and self-confident language for women in rap. She sees the style, often referred to as “pussy rap,” as her innovation.
At the same time, she criticizes the fact that, in her view, this pioneering work has never been sufficiently appreciated. “Yes, I made it cool that you called yourself cunts/Yes, I made it cool that women rapped in Germany/But don’t get any props, yes, you disappointed me,” she raps.
In fact, this is a common motif for German rappers to mark themselves as “the first”, even though there were a number of female rappers in this country before Juju and Nura. Nevertheless, you have to admit to SXTN that with their language and songs like “Deine Mutter” they have established the so-called “fotzenrap” and thus paved the way for a new generation.
Restart with a clear vision
Musically, the freestyle relies on reduced but powerful productions from WATERBOUTUS, Stoopid Lou, MARY and Krutsch, which bring Juju’s voice and message to the fore. In terms of content, the track acts like a prologue: a position statement before the next chapter.
With the album announcement at the end of the video, Juju makes it clear that this is just the beginning. After years of silence, infighting and public speculation, she returns with new clarity. Her second solo album will be released on August 7, 2026.
