Are the Rolling Stones coming to Germany with “Foreign Tongues”? What is known so far about concert plans, the new album and a possible farewell tour.

The Rolling Stones are reportedly working on their 25th and possibly final studio album. The first details about the title, singles and the unusual promotional campaign have already leaked.

More than six decades after their formation, The Rolling Stones are apparently facing an important chapter: According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have largely completed their 25th studio album. According to insider sources, the record is currently in the final mixing stage – and will be the band’s last album.

The title of the work is “Foreign Tongues”. A first single is due to be released before the album is released: the track “Mr Charm” is about to be released.

Promotional campaign under the old band name causes a stir

An unusual marketing campaign recently attracted attention: the band teased new music under the name The Cockroaches – a pseudonym under which the Stones had occasionally played surprise small concerts in the past. Fans who signed up for updates received a message that read, “Nice to meet you. I hope you can guess my name” – a direct reference to the 1968 classic “Sympathy For The Devil.”

Charlie Watts’ final recordings are said to be included

The new work is also emotionally charged by its cast: According to the report, “Foreign Tongues” contains some of the last studio recordings of Charlie Watts, who died in August 2021 at the age of 80. Parts of the material apparently come from earlier recording sessions – more songs were recorded during the work on “Hackney Diamonds” (2023) than ultimately ended up on the album. Some of these tracks are now supposed to appear on the new work.

Big tour probably not planned – smaller concert formats are being discussed

An extensive world tour is currently not planned. Instead, speculation is growing about smaller concert series, possibly supplemented by joint promotional appearances by the three band members.

The figures from the most recent tour show that demand is still enormous: The “Hackney Diamonds Tour” 2024 included 20 North American shows, attracted around 880,000 spectators and grossed around 235 million US dollars. Concert dates for Germany or Europe have not yet been communicated.

But be careful: Official confirmation from the band or their management is still pending at this point.
