An erroneously published report by the US news channel CNN has caused considerable confusion about the health status of Michael J. Fox. Under the headline “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” an obituary-like article briefly appeared that falsely portrayed the actor as deceased – and thus caused a frenzy in newsrooms around the world.

However, these fears quickly proved to be unfounded.

“Michael is doing great,” a spokesman for the actor told TMZ (“Michael is doing great”). “He was at Paley Fest yesterday. He was on stage doing interviews.” In fact, Fox appeared publicly at the TV industry event the evening before – lively and in a good mood.

CNN also responded immediately to the error. “The article was published in error,” explained a spokesman for the broadcaster (“The package was published in error”). “We have removed him from our platforms and apologize to Michael J. Fox and his family.”

Performance at Paley Fest

Fox’s appearance at a panel discussion on the Apple TV+ series “Shrinking” attracted additional attention, in which he took part in a panel discussion with Harrison Ford and Jason Segel. According to US industry reports, the 64-year-old also signaled his willingness for another season of the series. “I would love to do it; it would be my honor,” Fox said.

The actor, who became a star thanks to classics like “Back to the Future” and the sitcom “Family Ties,” has been living with Parkinson’s for decades, which he was diagnosed with in the early 1990s.

Billion-dollar research foundation

With the “Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research”, he founded one of the world’s most influential organizations for research into the disease, which has so far raised over two billion US dollars in funding.

Fox was most recently seen in the documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” in which he speaks candidly about his dealings with the illness. His commitment in front of and behind the camera remains just as influential as his continued presence in the public eye – contrary to rumors that sometimes circulate.
