The Braunschweig-based clothing provider New Yorker SE is relying on a new management structure. On Wednesday, the company announced the appointment of Sophie Knapp to the board. She had previously been deputy chairwoman of the family company’s supervisory board.
The daughter of the former owner Friedrich Knapp, who died in November 2024, has now taken over the position of co-CEO. With this step, the “close solidarity between family and management” will now also be “structurally implemented,” according to a statement.
Together with CEO Jonas Gnauck, Sophie Knapp will in future “shape the strategic direction of New Yorker and add a family representative to the board,” the company said. In the new constellation, Gnauck “continues to have overall operational responsibility for New York SE and affiliated companies.”
New Yorker strengthens the “next generation of the family business”
With the appointment, New Yorker is strengthening the “next generation of the family business” made up of Lola, Flora and Sophie Knapp. The reshuffle of the supervisory board should also contribute to this. Flora Knapp was newly appointed to the committee, and Lola Knapp will, according to the company, “initially be represented by former KPMG board member Dr. Bernd Erle.”
The supervisory board, of which Michael Kellerbach remains chairman, will also include Kasimir Rantzau in the future, while Joachim Winkler “is leaving the board after many years of committed and responsible work.”
