In retrospect, Tina Nijkamp is disappointed that she did not negotiate better during her time as channel boss of SBS 6. She believes that she was fobbed off with a salary that was too low. “20,000 euros per month.”

While she gave stars such as Gerard Joling a contract worth 1.5 million euros per year, Tina Nijkamp herself, during her time as channel boss of SBS 6, had to make do with a much lower salary. She complains about this in the Nouveau. “I earned very poorly, because I am not good at negotiating money,” said the TV authority.

20,000 euros

Tina finds that questionable. “In that sense, the fact that I can’t do that well has been taken advantage of. I earned a lot of money for SBS 6 and that didn’t make me a millionaire. In the end I earned 20,000 euros a month, but at the time I was director of three channels.”

That’s a very good salary, isn’t it? The ordinary man and woman can only dream of that. “The people who came after me earned 50,000 euros a month. I didn’t arrange that properly.”

Few women

Women are still underrepresented in the media, Tina believes. “I am extremely irritated by the fact that women are not given a chance for higher positions in front of and behind the scenes. There are all men in their fifties in those places and it is all about cronyism. Only at BNNVARA they have two female directors.”

She thinks that is ‘madness’. “Behind the scenes, I think Laura Venema and Justine Huffmeijer are women who know a lot about television and in front of the scenes I am positively surprised by Hila Noorzai. These women should be given more opportunities,” she concludes.
