A new song from Pink Floyd after almost 30 years

Pink Floyd has released new music since 1994. The new song Hey hey rise up is made to support a war-torn Ukraine.

Legendary Pink Floyd released a new song today, Friday, April 8th. The previous release from the band was in 1994, so it’s been 28 years since the last release.

Hey hey rise up The guitarist of the band plays in the song David Gilmour drummer Nick Masonbassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Nitin Sawhney.

The song is built in Ukrainian Andriy Khlyvnyukin around the song. The vowels are straight from an audio recording in which Khlyvnyuk sang in a protest in Kiev.

The original song is a protest song from the time of the First World War.

Pink Floyd’s Gilmour himself has a Ukrainian mini and grandchildren, so for him Khlyvnyuk’s song in protest was very touching.

– It was a powerful moment, so I wanted to get it in the music, he says.

– We want to show our support for Ukraine in this way, Gilmour continues.

The cover of the album is drawn with a sunflower, which is the national flower of Ukraine. A CNN article also says the Ukrainian singer in the song was hospitalized in the middle of the war after being wounded by shards.
