Recommendations of the Editorial team
Every week is fashion week for Doechii and Lady Gaga. The two artists chose “Runway” teamed up, a new collaboration that can be heard in the final trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2”.
“Serve a little sass, with a little side of ass, do a little twirl,” Doechii instructs on the track, which does not yet have an official release date. As Gaga begins, she lets loose a series of positive affirmations: “I’m feeling fab, I’m feeling free, I feel exceptionally.” At the end of the trailer, Doechii and Gaga chant the same refrain together: “You were born for the runway.”
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” hits theaters on May 1st. The film is about a changing magazine industry that is facing enormous challenges – the former flagship “Runway” is no longer what it once was. The sequel reunites the cast of the original, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. Also there: Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon and Donatella Versace. Gaga was spotted on set in Milan in October, just a day after Donatella Versace was also spotted there.
Mutual admiration
Gaga and Doechii don’t just share a love of music and fashion – the two also have a genuine mutual admiration for each other. “It’s not often that someone writes with a pen from the start that feels instantly legendary,” Gaga told British Vogue last year. “That’s Doechii for me. I fell in love with her music, with her raw, deeply personal perspective. The power of her words, her vulnerability, the way she rhymes – with that wild mix of boldness and emotional precision – hit me to the core.”
In an interview with People, Doechii responded to the pop star’s praise: “I literally gasped out loud. I’m the biggest Lady Gaga fan, and she’s so incredibly committed to her creativity and pushing boundaries – to have a legend say that about me was really, really validating for me in a humble way… When you meet Lady Gaga, she’s innately charismatic. You just listen without having to ask her to do anything at all. She comes naturally to the people.”
