He is now number one in the DFB team. Is Oliver Baumann even moving to FC Bayern? The goalkeeper is surprised by the rumor.

DFB goalkeeper Oliver Baumann has responded to a rumor about his possible move to FC Bayern. “Oh wow, I haven’t thought about that at all,” said the 35-year-old according to “Bild” after TSG Hoffenheim’s 2-1 home defeat against FSV Mainz 05. “I’ll do that at some point – or not,” Baumann continued.

The rumor about a possible transfer to Munich comes from the “Bild” podcast “Bayern Insider”. Accordingly, Bayern should deal with Baumann. The reason: If world champion Manuel Neuer actually ends his career in the summer at the age of 40, the German record champions want to sign an experienced replacement for the new number one Jonas Urbig.

Baumann’s contract in Hoffenheim runs until 2028. The goalkeeper is the Kraichgauer captain. Head coach Christian Ilzer reacted angrily to the rumors about his key player.

“I have no idea. You reveal a lot, the consultants do the rest,” he said, according to “Bild”. “It’s happening left and right for me. We’re focused on the last games.”

Hoffenheim continues to fight for participation in the Champions League. TSG is currently in fifth place, which would mean the team would qualify for the Europa League. The gap to VfB Stuttgart in fourth place in the premier class is three points. However, the lead over Leverkusen in sixth place in the Conference League has shrunk to just one point after the defeat at the weekend. Hoffenheim was only able to get one point from the last three league games.

Baumann came to TSG from Freiburg in 2014 and has been an undisputed regular since then. He also made his debut for the German national team in October 2024. At the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, he goes into the tournament as number one in the DFB team.
