Despite the skepticism, the experiment grew into a full-fledged wine estate. The Sixes now produce around 45,000 bottles annually and Montebeg contributes to the development of Heuvelland’s wine culture. In 2005, the region even received an appellation d’origine controlΓ© (AOC), officially recognizing it as a quality wine region.

“We are very proud of it. Thorough research has been done into the added value of wine growing in Heuvelland. There are now 14 wine growers active in the region. Small or large, for us they are all colleagues. Together we strengthen each other, and the more we join, the greater the oenological tourism to Heuvelland becomes,” says son Ward.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Monteberg is launching a new emblem and investing in additional space for the maturation of wine in oak barrels.
