“A year or so ago, before corona, there was a very sick man in our ICU. He was given oxygen and continued to deteriorate. Together with the patient, his girlfriend and son, we decided to relieve his suffering and discontinue treatment,” begins Winnie Rijsdijk, ICU practitioner at the Albert Schweitzer hospital in Dordrecht.
