For Raphaël Guerreiro, the Munich chapter ends in the summer. Where it will take him is still unclear. There are apparently several interested parties.

After ten years in Germany, Raphaël Guerreiro is apparently heading abroad. The 32-year-old will leave FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer and, according to media reports, is wanted by three clubs. Juventus Turin and Benfica Lisbon are said to have already expressed their interest in Guerreiro. According to the Turkish daily newspaper “Hurriyet”, Beşiktaş Istanbul has now also registered.

The German record champions had previously announced that they would not be extending Guerreiro’s contract, which expired after the season. Both sides had agreed on this. The alleged reason: Under coach Vincent Kompany, Guerreiro was recently only second choice. The versatile all-rounder was used in 14 of 28 possible Bundesliga games this season. According to reports, his salary of supposedly six million euros per year is too high given his ever-shrinking role in the team.

Bayern’s sports director said about Guerreiro on Friday before the win at SC Freiburg (3-2): “It wasn’t easy because he’s a great boy, played a lot of good games, is very versatile – a great strength of his.” Sports director Max Eberl also emphasized: “Rapha was always reliable on the pitch, and characters like him enrich every dressing room.”

The Portuguese international moved from Borussia Dortmund to Munich on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. He was born, raised and trained in France before moving from FC Lorient to BVB in 2016. Guerreiro is currently playing a total of 90 competitive games for Munich, in which he contributed twelve goals and eight assists. He won the championship with Bayern last season. He celebrated the biggest title of his career in 2016 when he became European champion with Portugal.
