Flanders is competent for everything related to cemeteries and funeral services, from care and transport to the final destination of the body. But the rules are outdated and no longer match reality.
According to the minister, recent incidents clearly show that adjustment is necessary. For example, the so-called ‘whisper deals’ came under fire, in which employees of residential care centers would receive compensation for hiring certain funeral directors. Discounts in crematoria for the delivery of multiple bodies are also causing discussion.
