Fuel prices have risen sharply in recent weeks due to the war in the Middle East. Prices at the pump are rising almost every day, mainly because the purchasing costs of oil are rising due to uncertainty and a more limited supply on the world market. In the Netherlands, the average national recommended price is now around €2.59 per liter for petrol and even towards €2.79 per liter for diesel. However, there are still large price differences locally. In the Frisian village of Oosterwolde, motorists currently have a windfall: there the petrol price is around €2.17 per liter and diesel around €2.44. This makes this gas station one of the cheapest in the Netherlands. This price difference arises because gas stations determine their own prices. Cheaper locations, such as village stations, often have lower operating costs. In addition, this gas station is unmanned, which further reduces costs and results in lower fuel prices.
