After two silver medals, it’s all about: will the men of the Hurry-up handball club return to Zwartemeer today with the cup? For the third time in club history they will play the cup final, in Almere against Aalsmeer.

Will the saying ‘three times is a bargain’ apply? If it were up to board member Manuel Kremer, yes.

“It’s time for us to bring another prize here. The last time was fifteen years ago. Everyone is yearning for success again,” Kremer says firmly.

It is not the fault of the loyal supporters. This morning Zwartemeer turned orange-black for a while. “We pull out all the bells and whistles,” says René Stuifzand. He goes to Almere to support the club. He is not the only one traveling to Flevoland: no fewer than five buses with fans go that way.

“Opponent Aalsmeer can expect a lot of noise and commotion. Our audience is fantastic,” Stuifzand beams. Board member Kremer agrees. “I hope that the supporters will support us en masse and will act as an eighth man. We can really use that help. Let’s make it a home game and let’s all have a blast.”

The players bus left at twelve o’clock. The players bus made its way through Zwartemeer through a hedge of orange smoke, torches and fireworks.

“That cup will come to Zwartemeer,” Kremer is convinced.

On our website you can read how the handball players from Zwartemeer fared. An extensive summary will be shown on TV Drenthe tomorrow.
