The new Yunka residence is designed like a South American rainforest. Visitors walk past different animal species, which are located at various heights. “We have animals that live on the ground, in trees and in the air,” says spokesperson Hanneke Wijshake. “Think of birds, monkeys, a sloth and therefore also an iguana.”

Some animals may encounter each other, but that is not necessarily the intention. “That is not necessary,” says Wijshake. “But if it does happen, it will be interesting for us to see how they react to each other.”

The iguana does not come from a breeding program of the park, but from the private circuit. The animal was offered through a pet store.

“We only take in animals if the papers are in order,” Zomer emphasizes. “Not every green iguana can come here. This is the first, and we still have to see how that goes in the future.”
