“I don’t know if you like gold, but when I see this it makes me very happy. Not only because I love gold, but because this is just very phenomenal. We are very happy with two bracelets and the golden helmet that are back. I don’t see it as a blemish either. Of course we want that third bracelet back, especially for Romania. But also for ourselves for a complete closure. Still, this is already a great result.”
Have you already touched the helmet and armbands?
“In fact, I had to study them together with the conservator to determine whether these are actually the helmet and the armbands. So yes! I have had it in my hands and studied it. We have assessed that these are the real helmet and armbands.”
How can you see that and judge that this is real?
“Strangely enough, that is actually my area of expertise before I came to work here. I know where to look. But very simple and for everyone to understand: the shape we have here must correspond to what is shown in the photos. And the weight must also correspond to what is stated in the report as to what it should weigh. Those two things, the shape and the weight… We see that nothing has changed in the shape. For example, if a copy had been made, but in a different metal such as silver with a gold layer on top, then it would never be possible. have the same weight as it has now. Well, the weight and the shape match. Therefore, we can conclude that this is real gold.”
