After the departure of Stefan Horngacher as national ski jumping coach, there is a question mark behind the cooperation between the Bulgarian and German associations. Bulgarian coach Grzegorz Sobczyk has now confirmed that he would also like to work with Horngacher’s successor Andreas Mitter.

Whether the Bulgarian ski jumper Vladimir Zografski and his coach Grzegorz Sobczyk will continue their collaboration with the DSV Eagles in the coming season is currently still unclear. “I don’t know exactly how this will develop,” the Polish coach told “TVPsport.pl”: “We have to talk about it.”

Basically, says the 45-year-old, he would very much welcome a sequel: “There is definitely interest because we did an excellent job with Vladi. If Vladi decides to continue jumping like this, then I think we will work together.”

The cooperation came from the Bulgarian association, which approached the DSV and its long-time national coach Stefan Horngacher. Horngacher and Sobczyk know each other from their time together at the Polish association, where they worked as head and assistant coaches respectively from 2016 to 2019.

Horngacher legacy? “I didn’t concentrate on it”

In the past season, the collaboration meant that Zografski took part in summer preparation with the German ski jumpers, and during competitions he shared the container with the DSV Eagles.

First of all, Grzegorz Sobczyk also has to clarify his own future with the Bulgarian contract, his contract expires in April. “The season is over, now the talks are starting. I think I’ll fly to Sofia on April 21st, so the negotiations will continue,” said the Pole.

The fact that the position was vacant at the German association after the separation from Stefan Horngacher didn’t concern him at all: “We knew that Stefan would give up his position. I didn’t concentrate on who would replace him.”
