A Ghanaian football portal reports on negotiations with Joachim Löw as the new national coach. But what does the 66-year-old himself say about it?

Joachim Löw has denied reports from a Ghanaian football portal that he is being discussed as Ghana’s new national coach for the 2026 World Cup. “Nobody has officially spoken to me about Ghana,” said the former national coach on Sky Sport.

The portal had previously reported that the Ghanaian association had started negotiations with Löw. These went positively and Löw showed “real interest” in the position. Ghana parted ways with coach Otto Addo after a 2-1 defeat against Germany.

Löw has not worked as a coach since his departure as DFB coach around five years ago. He recently expressed his ideas about a possible return to Sky. He doesn’t want to “say goodbye to retirement if there’s another interesting offer that I say is a good prospect.” And further: “Of course I will always be associated with national teams because I was the national coach for so long. As far as my experience is concerned, that would also be the best thing for me.”

The 66-year-old celebrated his greatest success in 2014 when he led Germany to the World Cup title in Brazil. Ghana will face England, Croatia and Panama in the group stage of the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada – from June 11th to July 19th.
