The police announced on Friday that there is no link between the Tilburg citizen who was arrested on Thursday evening and the attack on the synagogue in Rotterdam. An explosion occurred there earlier this month.

During a search, the police found three homemade explosives in the house where the adult son lives with his family. They also confiscated illegal fireworks.

The Tilburg citizen himself was arrested elsewhere in the city. He is no longer in custody at this time. He is suspected of possessing illegal professional fireworks.

Attack on synagogue
Four Tilburg residents were previously arrested for the attack on the synagogue on ABN Davidsplein in Rotterdam. These are two 19-year-old men, one 18-year-old and a 17-year-old boy.

On the night of the attack, a fire broke out in the entrance of the building, followed by an explosion. The damage was limited, but the incident caused a lot of unrest and fear within the Jewish community.

The four suspects were arrested shortly after the attack near another synagogue in the Hillegersberg district, a few kilometers away. Officers checked their car due to unusual driving behavior. One of the occupants matched a description of the perpetrator.

It is still unclear what the exact role of the suspects is and whether they had plans for a second attack. The investigation into them is still ongoing.

Searches and investigations
After the arrests, the police searched four homes in Tilburg. This happened at Van Delfthof, Lage Witsiebaan and Dirk Fockstraat, among others. The police do not reveal where the fourth home is located. It is also not clear whether anything was found during the searches.

According to Justice Minister David van Weel (VVD), everything indicates that the suspects of the attack have been recruited. He indicated last week that the possibility of whether Iran was involved in the attack on the synagogue was also being investigated.
