Niclas Almar’s days at Rauma have ended. In the latest episode of Lätkäpod, a hockey reporter Timo Kunnari says that he has received confirmation that Almari will not continue in Luko next season.
Almar’s return has been hoped for, at least in Espoo, because the player is a graduate of Espoo’s hockey school, and the Kiekko-Espoo team could use a 27-year-old player who is also familiar from the national team. However, it seems that people in Espoo are left to lick their fingers.
– We haven’t seen the contract, but there are strong hall rumors that the man will be taken to Tappara in Tampere.
Almari is not the only rumor related to Tappara, but other domestic defenders have also been linked to the team from Tampere, at least in uncertain rumors.
Almari is also not the only one to leave Luko, but on Thursday it was confirmed that the Swedish brothers too Pontus and Patrick Westerholm leave the team. The Swedes’ departure is not a surprise, as their contract expired this spring. Instead, it is a surprise that there is at least one player leaving Luko whose contract with Rauma was supposed to be extended.
More on that topic in the episode of Lätkäpodi, which can be heard at the beginning of this article or on Spotify from here.
