Game scene EHC Munich - ERC Ingolstadt

As of: April 2, 2026 • 10:21 p.m

Advantage EHC Munich: In the Bavarian duel in the playoff quarter-final series, the former champions took the lead again.

6:3 (2:0,2:3,2:0) – the result sounds clearer than the game was. EHC Munich took a 3-2 lead in the play-off quarter-final series against ERC Ingolstadt and can now make it into the semi-finals on Saturday in Ingolstadt. The game in the SAP Garden was not an ordinary game because of the history.

Check against Edwin Tropmann is still an issue

Before the face-off, Munich’s Fabio Wagner’s check against Ingolstadt’s Edwin Tropmann on Wednesday in Ingolstadt was still the big topic. Those responsible for both clubs agreed that the heated atmosphere in Ingolstadt should have been stopped. There were clarifying discussions. Everyone in Munich wishes Tropmann, who will probably be released from the hospital shortly, a speedy recovery. And in the meantime, Wagner and Tropmann, who was suspended for 14 games, have probably spoken to each other on the phone.

Little hardness in the first third

The discussions have clearly found their way into the players’ heads. Because it seemed as if both teams were avoiding a particularly tough game. Few checks, little poison – they tried to play ice hockey. And the hosts did it better in the first third. Patrick Hager and Yasin Ehzin gave Munich a 2-0 lead.

In the second third, however, the guests responded, who now accepted the fight, found their way into the game better and came back with goals from Philipp Krauß, Peter Abbandonato and Riley Barber. Because Veit Oswald also scored for Munich, the score was 3:3 going into the final third.

EHC Munich decides game five in the final third

There the EHC had more grain and was able to take the lead again. Tobias Rieder and Alberts Smits initially took the lead 5:3. Ingolstadt tried everything in the final phase, but even had to accept an empty net goal from Brady Ferguson to make it 3:6.

The series continues on Saturday in Ingolstadt.
