According to informant Mary Fiers, the political parties PRO, CDA and D66 can form a ‘stable basis for city government’ in Eindhoven. Fiers investigated the possibilities for a new coalition.
In recent years, the coalition in Eindhoven consisted of GroenLinks, CDA, PvdA and D66. At the start of their reign, they already talked about a growth spurt that Eindhoven is experiencing. The parties talked about the city’s growing pains. The housing shortage and the pressure on facilities in the city were mentioned.
Discussions now show that PRO (formerly Groenlinks-PvdA), CDA and D66 can count on broad support. “With almost two-thirds of the seats, these parties form a stable basis for the city government,” says Fiers. After the last municipal elections, she was appointed as an informant on behalf of the largest party PRO.
In her advice, she indicates that the large number of seats of the three parties requires a new dynamic in governance style. She also emphasizes that the formation should be used explicitly for a fresh and clear start to the new administrative period, to prevent things from automatically continuing as they are now.
