In the first match of the FIBA Women’s European Cup final, ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin defeated the Greek representative Athinaikos Qualco 85-80 away.
In the match that started with mutual baskets, the Mersin team was effective in the attack with two consecutive hits from outside shots by Allen. Playing good defense, ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin finished the period ahead 29-16, with Burke scoring 12 points.
Continuing its superiority in the second quarter, where the home team tried to reduce the difference, ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin went to the locker room ahead 48-42.
At the beginning of the third period, ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin did not allow the difference to decrease in the section where Juskiate also contributed to the score. Mersin team closed the period with 23 points ahead 71-62.
The last period of the competition witnessed an exciting fight. In the period when Athinaikos Qualco reduced the difference to 2 points, Mersin team did not allow the guest team to take the lead with their accurate shots in the last minutes.
