Omroep Brabant reporter Thijs den Ouden won the Regiohelden Awards on Thursday for the best audio production of the year. He won this prize for his personal podcast series ‘Of I miss you’ about his father, who died when Thijs was five years old.
For years, Thijs regarded his father’s death as a fact that he felt little about. Until he started to wonder: why does it affect me so little? Why don’t I miss him? And who was my father anyway? That’s what Thijs is looking for in the series Of I miss you.
In the series, Thijs examines not only his father in five episodes, but also his own feelings. He speaks to his family, childhood friends and colleagues to find out who is the man he would miss.
This search has earned him the De Luistervink prize at the Regional Heroes Awards. These awards are presented in multiple categories. A separate professional jury has been composed for each category with experts from the journalistic field.
