Eintracht Frankfurt made a foresighted transfer and secured the services of Tobias Weigel. The 18-year-old offensive player comes to the Main metropolis from 1. FC Heidenheim on a free transfer and signs a long-term contract.
Weigel celebrated his Bundesliga debut at Heidenheim this season when he came on as a substitute in the final minute of the 1-0 defeat against VfB Stuttgart on matchday six. Since then he has no longer been in the squad of coach Frank Schmidt’s team, but shone in the U19 youth league with eleven goals and five assists in 15 games.
Weigel is also not initially planned for the professionals in Frankfurt, as sports director Timmo Hardung explained: “We are very happy that we were able to recruit Tobias Weigel for Eintracht Frankfurt. He is a very talented young player with a variable offensive profile. Tobias already has many qualities that suit us and our game idea well. In the interests of a clear development path, his sporting focus will initially be on our U21, where we want to advance his development step by step towards the professional level. We We are convinced that he will find the optimal conditions with us to exploit his great potential.”
