The Spanish young professional cyclist Jaume Guardeno has to be treated in the intensive care unit of a hospital after a serious training accident. His team Caja Rural-RGA announced this on Thursday.
After Tuesday’s incident, the 23-year-old was “flown by helicopter to Tauli Hospital in Sabadell, where he remains in intensive care with serious injuries,” wrote Caja Rural-RGA, which will be a guest team in the upcoming Tour de France. The team assured their driver of their “full support”.
According to Spanish media reports, Guardeno, who took part in the Tour of Catalonia last week, collided violently with a vehicle and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
