After a ruthless check on the head and neck: national ice hockey player Fabio Wagner from EHC Red Bull Munich has to sit out for a long time.
Long ban for a German ice hockey professional: National player Fabio Wagner from EHC Red Bull Munich is punished after his check on the head and neck area of Ingolstadt’s Edwin Tropmann.
The German Ice Hockey League suspended Wagner for 14 games. This means that the 30-year-old will no longer play a game for Munich this season.
The DEL justified the long ban in a statement with the “ruthless” check and the “main hit point” on the “head and neck area”.
Tropmann was also brought off the ice on a stretcher in the fourth playoff game at ERC Ingolstadt. He had to be “hospitalized.” Defender Wagner also received a fine.
Wagner suffered a 7-2 defeat in Ingolstadt with his Munich team on Tuesday. Teammate Jeremy McKenna also received a two-game ban from this game for a too hard check on the head and neck area.
This means that the Canadian will definitely miss games five and six on Thursday (7:30 p.m./Magentasport) and Saturday (2:00 p.m./Magentasport). In the quarterfinal series the score is 2-2 between both teams.
