The participants of the second edition of the Songfestival Drenthe – Pop in ‘t Plat have been announced. On June 6, ten artists will compete against each other with Drenthe-language music.
It is the second edition of the Drents Songfestival, which succeeded the Drèents Songfestival. Last year the De Roo brothers won with their song Olde Jetta. Read here who has a chance this year:
You wouldn’t immediately expect it, but every now and then you hear Alpine singing in Dalen. Ilse Scholten can yodel and she doesn’t get that from a stranger.
“My grandfather could always yodel very beautifully. As a child I thought that was very special and I wanted to be able to do that too. When he was on his deathbed, I yodelled for him. Then he said: you have to continue with this.”
She does that now with the song Mien Grandpa.
What does love do to us? The occasional band D-Day from Dalerveen has dedicated a song to this: Some Love With Oe Döt. Band member Gijs Peters explains:
“What makes the world a little more beautiful? That’s love. Love can thaw an icy person. That’s what this song is about.” In any case, Peters is ready: “We’re going to have a party.”
Country and 70’s music come together in the song With Joe from the band Countryside from Schoonebeek. Singer Anja Tingen: “The song suits us perfectly. It describes that no matter what you experience, you should always keep your courage up.”
From the bath to the stage: Josh Hassing from Odoorn comes up with the song Never Have Different Feelings Againwhich he came up with in the bath. “That’s where I relax.”
Hassing is a hairdresser by profession, but has been writing musicals for years. He chose a song from one of those musicals for the Drents Songfestival. “For me this is a bucket list thing. Participating is the most important thing for me.”
