Vincent Kompany gives Bayern’s next talent the chance to show himself. The youngster also stands out because of his name.
At FC Bayern’s public training session on Tuesday in front of 2,200 spectators, a previously little-known player from the U17 was once again on the pitch. He had already trained with us on Monday: Philipp von Taube. At 1.91 meters, the 16-year-old not only has exceptional physical qualities, but also strong numbers. In the youth Bundesliga he scored 17 goals in 21 games.
His name also stands out. Born in Stuttgart, he comes from the noble Taube family with German-Baltic roots in what is now Estonia. Nevertheless, according to “Bild”, the attacker lives a down-to-earth lifestyle. Noble titles have no longer had any social privileges in Germany since 1919 and are simply part of the surname. According to the report, his parents are working and value modesty.
Despite his achievements, Von Taube deliberately stays in the background. There is no public Instagram account, instead the focus is on its development. Just last Saturday he scored three goals in the Munich U17’s 6-2 win against Nuremberg. The next chance came two days later: taking part in training with professional coach Vincent Kompany.
Things could soon change for the striker off the pitch too. His contract expires in June and talks about an extension are said to be well advanced – despite interest from other clubs at home and abroad. According to the report, the attacker, who can also play as a hanging striker, sees his future at FC Bayern, and the club is also showing great interest.
