Sand Italian cinema today is increasingly distant from the glories of a glorious past, Paolo Genovese can be classified as the director of exceptions to the rule. His cult work, Perfect Strangersshe entered in the Guinness Book of Records for the most remakes (over 30) in the history of cinema. A fortunate destiny of success also transposed into the his comedies, loved by the public for their recognizable style and balance between smile and drama. The secret of his films? Allowing the viewer to totally identify with the unexpected depths of the story.

What do all Paolo Genovese’s films have in common?

Whether they are family Christmas comedies, philosophical dramas or stories on the edge of the surreal, Paolo Genovese’s works for the big screen always start from the most classic of cinephile questions: What if? What if? An assumption and rule of the game which, although largely explored, always manages to transform into something new and attractive. His world is based on very realistic facts to which he adds, sometimes unharmoniously, conceptual reflections and moral dilemmas, not always told with equal intensity in the tried and tested structure of his films.

His secret weapons I’m there sincerity of emotions and the courage to explore timeless themesembracing entire universes in the name of friendship, love and family relationships, often put to the test by extreme choices and deviations from the norm.
