Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts Italy on Tuesday night at Bilino Polje Stadium, Zenica. The bet is huge: a place in the World Cup final tournament of the summer.
Under the match, there was a spy commotion.
As usual, the host team’s training in Butmir was open to the media for the first fifteen minutes. However, it was outside the allowed time on the edge of the field a man dressed in a terrain-patterned jacket filming the training event.
Numerous international media reported on the case. According to the Italian Gazzetta, the Bosnians believed that the man had been recruited by the Italian Football Federation in his film studio.
The soldier was an Italian, an employee of the Eufor crisis management organization under the EU, whose station, according to Goal, is near the training ground. According to Gazzetta, he was there “by chance” and filmed the training session for “purely personal reasons”.
The match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy starts at 21:45 Finnish time. The winner gets a place in Group B of the World Cup final tournament, which also includes Canada, Qatar and Switzerland.
