A spokesperson for the NVWA said that the inspectors were coincidentally on the road when they came across the images of the restaurant on Javastraat on social media. That video showed, among other things, rats walking in food containers and over the chip shop.
Direct inspection
The NVWA asked the maker of the video about the location of the restaurant and immediately went to take a look. There they saw with their own eyes how the rats ran through the store and found a lot of droppings. Rats pose a risk to food safety and can spread diseases. That is why the restaurant is closed immediately.
To reopen, the owner must meet a number of conditions. For example, he must ensure that vermin can no longer enter and everything must be clean.
The owner must also hire a professional exterminator to make everything ‘rat-proof’. If all conditions are met, he can request a new inspection. The NVWA will then decide whether the business can open again.
