Tatjana Maria can still win: At her favorite tournament in Bogota, the former Wimbledon semi-finalist from Bad Saulgau celebrated another victory on the WTA tour after six defeats in opening matches.
The 38-year-old moved into the round of 16 in Colombia’s capital in her first round duel against local favorite Maria-Valentina Mediorreal Arias, who was half her age, 6:2, 6:1.
Three years after her second and so far last title win in Bogotá, Maria now faces Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa as number four on the seed list. Ella Seidel from Hamburg is the second German registered in South America.
