Eric de Munck has become somewhat of the face of everything that went wrong with Yvonne Coldeweijer’s failed TV project. This RTL Boulevard celebrity left angrily. “Not happy.”
The intention was that we could currently watch a juice show by Yvonne Coldeweijer on Net5 every evening. Expectations were high, but according to insiders she turned out to be a dragon to work with. She can have fun at home on the couch stories for Instagram, but a team player? No, according to those involved, she is not.
Yvonne’s tube
Yvonne was unable to create a team feeling. One person after another resigned. The departure of Eric de Munck as second editor-in-chief was in the news, because he is known from RTL Boulevard. He is used to a professional TV environment. “Eric is fantastic,” his former colleague Rob Goossens agrees Panorama.
He continues: “Missing out on his collaboration with Yvonne is more painful than the break between Yvonne and Pascal (van Meerten, the first editor-in-chief to resign, ed.), because Eric came out of her way. What happened there? Is Yvonne really so impossible to work with? I can hardly imagine that.”
Disagreement?
Rob wonders what exactly happened between Eric and Yvonne. “Did they get into a disagreement because Eric, who had been hired as editor-in-chief, might also have wanted to appear in the picture himself?”
Eric himself shouted on the radio in January that he never had to see Yvonne again. He now says about this in the Panorama: “What I said there did not go down very well. What I can correct is the idea that Yvonne and I had a screaming argument. That chairs were thrown across the room and hair was pulled out of our heads. That’s not too bad.”
Not happy
So what happened? Eric: “We had a difference of vision and I didn’t feel comfortable with that. That’s why I quit and she wasn’t happy with that. The agreement from the start was that I would work at the desk as editor-in-chief and as a sidekick.”
He continues: “I wanted to make a fun, fresh program that would differ from Shownieuws and Boulevard. That genre already exists and I wanted to stay away from it. In retrospect, I should have known that it would be too much gossip and backbiting with her. In that respect, I take matters into my own hands.”
Downward spiral
Eric said he should have known better. “I fell into a downward spiral, wondering every day whether things would turn out all right. Now I know that I should have made a different choice. That this was not for me. Not enough journalism.”
What does he expect from her juice comeback? “I expect her to be as big as she was before. Absolutely. She’s good at what she does when she’s operating solo on an independent platform. There’s still a market for juice channels and she’s the best at it. I just don’t have to look at it. She and I are clearly different blood types.”
