Werder Bremen’s sports director had actually already signed Victor Boniface. But the Nigerian will probably be an issue again in Bremen.
Turnaround for Victor Boniface: After his knee operation in January, the loan player completed his rehab and returned to Bremen. The 25-year-old Nigerian is scheduled to complete his first individual training session at the Weser Stadium on Tuesday. So a comeback this season is possible. Sports director Peter Niemeyer said about the knee operation: “Due to the rehabilitation process, we no longer assume that Victor will play for Werder this season.”
Now the club is planning its return step by step. “Victor should initially train individually for the entire week. He should then be carefully introduced to team training so that we have the hope that he can still play this season,” said Peter Niemeyer.
Boniface had not played since the beginning of December due to knee problems. In the first series he remained without a goal in eleven appearances and missed 16 of the 27 Bundesliga matches. Knee injuries had repeatedly slowed him down in the past.
