The complete line-up: Nübel – Brown, Schlotterbeck, Tah, Kimmich – Stiller, Groß – Wirtz, Gnabry, Havertz – Woltemade

Nagelsmann had already explained some of his decisions before the game. Nübel, who is expected to be number two behind Oliver Baumann at the World Cup, will have a special evening in front of his home audience in Stuttgart. “This is not a casting, but a reward for very good performances over a very long period of time,” explained Nagelsmann.

Left-back Nathaniel Brown, who is supposed to challenge regular player David Raum, gets the chance to show himself. However, after a minor injury, the strength is not yet sufficient for the entire season. He also promised Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav, who is initially sitting on the bench, a few minutes of playing time.

Pascal Groß received special praise from Nagelsmann as part of the nomination. “He’s just very, very selfless overall,” said the national coach. “He can work with all players, no matter how they tick.” The game against World Cup participants Ghana is the last appearance before Nagelsmann’s squad nomination on May 12th.
