FC Bayern has secured one of Austria’s most promising young players. The record champions are hoping for a lot in the long term.

FC Bayern has signed 16-year-old Austrian Matteo Maric. The offensive player is moving from the Bundesliga club RB Salzburg’s academy to the Munich campus in the summer and has received a long-term contract.

Maric is an Austrian junior national player. Since 2024 he has been trained in the Salzburg youth team and was most recently used in the U18 team. In Munich he should be introduced to the transition area between young talent and the professional area.

Bayern youth director Jochen Sauer said: “We have been observing Matteo over a long period of time. For us, he is one of the most promising talents of his year in Austria and we are convinced that he will be a reinforcement for our academy.”
