Marco Principi: “Beating Montesanto and Kennedy was decisive, we are one step away from salvation, a true sporting feat. Our pride made the difference”
Capriotti Mosciano wins two consecutive matches and takes home a prestigious spoil in terms of survival: a real war machine, capable of impacting and capitalizing on favorable moments, driven by a clear objective from the beginning of the season: to maintain the category. A performance that is worth the FIB TOP TEAM recognition, an award that honors not only performance, but also character and personality.
fundamental victories
—
The young recruit Marco Principi, a twenty-four year old from Fano, tells the story of the team’s moment, determined and clear in his analysis: “Two weeks ago we were in the playout zone and we had a direct match against Montesanto, in their home country, with the same score in the standings. If we had lost we would have entered the relegation zone. By winning, however, we gained a +3 and, at the same time, we also took advantage of Kennedy’s draw, managing to overtake them”. The positive moment was also confirmed in the following round: “On Saturday, within our walls, we faced Kennedy and we won 6-2, while Montesanto lost. This allowed us to accumulate a +6 on Montesanto and a +4 on Kennedy. Now we are sixth in the standings, outside the red zone. Two games to go: against Possaccio at home and Perugia away”.
desire for redemption
—
The road to salvation is still open, but awareness has grown: “We are one step away from a sporting achievement. At one point in the season the situation was really complicated, but our pride and desire for redemption made the difference. We never gave up and we took important steps.” All eyes now turned to the next matches, to be faced with maximum concentration: “The difficulty is that we are playing everything, while our opponents – currently last in the standings – have less pressure. We will have to keep our attention high: Possaccio is a very strong team technically, the ranking does not reflect their real value”.
stay in a
—
The spirit of the group remains the real turning point: “After these two successes we said to ourselves: let’s win the next one too and then we’ll say we’re good. The objective is clear: to compete in Serie A again. During the year we left a few points along the way, but now only the present counts.” Finally, he reveals to us the role he plays within the team: “We are a very united group. I try to learn from the more experienced and, at the same time, to be a point of reference for my teammates in difficult moments. I want to give my contribution on and off the pitch.” And among the reference figures, Principi has no doubts: “Dante D’Alessandro is my idol. He represents sport: he dedicated his life to bowls, making important sacrifices. He is the strongest of all time and, even today, on the pitch he is an added value”.
the expert speaks
—
Now the word goes to the most expert, Dante D’Alessandro: “It’s a positive end to the season. We know the value of our team: there are more famous and, on paper, superior teams. Our objective is survival, and this pushes us to fight continuously. Last year we saved ourselves on the last day, this year we have a greater margin and more possibilities. I’m satisfied because we’re playing well: Marco is growing day after day and all the boys show character, giving their all from start to finish.”
love for bowls
—
A thought also for the young companion: “I thank Marco for the kind words he said. He is a humble, intelligent person, with a great desire to improve. He is in love with bowls, and this is not a given at his age. I am very close to young people: I also bring my experience to Molise, working with children aged 11 to 17”. On the sacrifices he admits: “Bocce has given me a lot, but it requires commitment. Organization is needed between work and training. The biggest sacrifice was reconciling physical preparation and technical preparation. To get ready for important matches I have often given up time with friends, family and loved ones. But it is necessary: a sense of duty is needed, even towards the fans. When the public calls, the athlete must answer.”
