With ‘Stimulation-friendly Kortrijk’, the city wants to increase participation in city life and events for people with stimulus sensitivity. The initiative focuses not only on people with autism, but also on people with psychological vulnerability, dementia, children and the elderly.
“We often don’t think about it, but for many people sensitivity to stimuli is an important reason to ignore events,” says Alderman for Accessibility Giovanny Saelens. “By structurally providing low-incentive initiatives, we ensure that more people can fully participate in city life.”
