The temporary interventions are part of the so-called mobility plan, implemented by Trigion Traffic Support. While employee Bram Bloemerts from Dwingeloo often does preparations in other places in the country, this feels like a home game.

“Of course you know the roads, the back roads, the shortcuts, you name it,” he says. “That makes the preparation a lot easier.”

As a result, the route between Heuvelenweg and Entingheweg will be closed until April 7. The road closure will be extended to the south side of the Kleine Brink from 12 noon on Thursday. The event area will open to the public again from 7 p.m.

Everyone who comes to Dwingeloo will then be redirected to the temporary parking spaces with traffic signs. If either parking lot is full, drivers will be directed to the other.

Spectators who come by bicycle are less affected by the temporary interventions. The road closure does not apply to them.

When they enter Dwingeloo, a route leads them to bicycle sheds, close to both entrances on Heuvelenweg and Entingheweg.

Another logistical challenge that Dwingeloo faces is the public traveling by public transport. “That is usually less in a village,” says Bloemerts. For example, bus 28 will not run on the main road around the Brink until April 5 at the latest.

However, there is more public transport in the village on Thursday. There will be a temporary stop at the Dwingelderdijk, upon entering Dwingeloo on the N855.

Furthermore, bus line 28 runs from 6:40 PM to 12:51 AM, twice an hour. That is once more than usual. Line 20 from Assen to Dieverbrug will also stop at the temporary stop twice an hour during that time.

“We are not directly adjacent to a highway that can get stuck when people come here en masse by car,” says Bloemerts about the stop at Dwingelderdijk. “I actually see more advantages than disadvantages.”
