The opposite team with 35 points dragged Vero Volley to victory over Scandicci in game 4 of the semi-final. Race 1 with Conegliano on April 11th. The Tuscans console themselves with the Champions League Final Four

Rodolfo Palermo

March 29 – 11.04pm – MILAN

The championship final will once again be Conegliano-Milan. For the fourth time in five years the Vero Volley consortium team reaches the final stage of the championship, and does so by closing the series at home, in game 4, against Savino Del Bene Scandicci. In front of 4262 Allianz Cloud ends 3-1, with Egonu, MVP, dominating the match for a long time with 35 points. Eleonora Fersino is no exception, and it is not a figure of speech, who doesn’t drop half a ball and is no less decisive: an excellent way to pick up the Italian legacy of Moki De Gennaro, who will now go on to challenge for the title. For Scandicci there are 26 points from Antropova, excellent like Egonu for two sets, but then in decline (also physically). Milan wins because it manages to find, at different times, different protagonists: Lanier in the third fraction, and Piva in the fourth, while for the Tuscans the blanket remains shorter.

the match

Teams at the start with the sextets of game 3, and two absolute protagonists: Egonu and Antropova, in a duel with very high percentages that ends 12-8 on an individual level and 28-26 overall, with Numia moving on to the fourth set point. A match played on nerves and teams arm in arm in the second half, with Lanier in difficulty while from 18 all Skinner’s attacks and Nwakalor’s blocks equalize the scores (19-25 and 1-1). With Weitzel nothing if not harmful, Gaspari chooses Graziani at the beginning of the third quarter, but the one who changes pace is Lanier (8/12, with the first four attacks scored in the 5-1 start). Egonu hits with lobs and balls in abundance (with Bosio not always being very precise), but Numia maintains the advantage because the visiting attack gets caught up in the heat and collapses to 15% efficiency: 25-21 and 2-1. With Skinner’s decline, Scandicci looks for a second fiddle in attack, with the problem of having to get Antropova to catch her breath. But with Fersino not dropping anything, the feat is difficult. Bosetti, in an excellent series, fails offensively, while Numia grows, with Piva excellent in the second line and perfect (5/5 in the half) in attack. Added to this is a good entry from Pietrini, and for Savino del Bene finding continuity is complicated, also because Danesi (7 blocks) erects a barrier at the net. Milan breaks away at a distance (from 17 equal to the final 25-22), reaching the final, once again with destination Conegliano. Not exactly a predictable result on the eve of the match, but Lavarini’s team showed themselves good at capturing the positive moments of the season. And of course, to be guided by Captain Paola Egonu.
